ON TOUR WITH CRAIG GABRIEL – 25 August 2009
 
Hey everyone greetings from the USA and more specifically New Haven, Connecticut. I got in here late at night after travelling 24+ hours from Sydney to Los Angeles to New York. We had to circle over New York City for quite a while because a severe storm was in the area and we had to wait for the weather to clear.
 
When we finally landed the 747-400 took the entire length of the runway to stop and when we turned off the runway I looked out the window and saw the lights at the end of the runway just outside.
 
It then was a two hour drive up to New Haven which is where the famous Yale University is. The campus is very lovely but the town is not the greatest although there are some tremendous restaurants here.
 
The tournament is one of the few combined events on the circuit. Last year’s Tennis Masters Cup finalist Nikolay Davydenko is the top seed and the second seed is Fernando Verdasco. You know I was telling you about the restaurants here well all the players in the draw get what’s known as a “Passport to Dining” and they get free meals at the restaurants. The restaurant owners then stamp the passport just like going through an airport.
