Why AOC has failed to represent New Yorkers?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes is a Congress woman for the 14th district in New York, which includes the eastern part of the Bronx and part of north-central Queens. But who does she represent? Who are her constituents? Who benefits from her rhetoric of defunding the police, anti-Israel and driving out a planned Amazon distribution center?

I lived in New York City from 1982-1989. I witnessed how crime turned prime real estate in the City into swaths of uninhabitable areas for businesses and residents alike. New Yorkers and businesses all prefer and deserve a safe and crime-free environment.

On November 22, after 6 people were killed and 48 injured in Waukesha Christmas parade by a career criminal Darrell Brooks, AOC wrote in a letter to NY District Attorneys. In the letter, AOC demanded 'information on excessive bail in the NYC court system. When prosecutors seek excessive cash bail, it results in increased rates of incarceration — particularly for low-income defendants.' AOC cares more about criminals than law abiding citizens in New York who elected her to Congress. On the issue of public safety, AOC has failed these constituents.

AOC seized upon isolated policing incidents while promoting anti-police rhetoric. At the same time, she spent tens of thousands on her own private security. AOC's action and rhetoric have not enhanced but weakened public security in New York City.


By obstructing and aborting Amazon's planned regional center in Long Island City, a trendy part of Queens, NY, AOC caused the loss of 25,000 well paying jobs much needed by the residents in and around the area. These jobs, had the Amazon regional center been opened in LIC, would also increase the value of homes in Queens, Brooklyn and adjacent areas.


Andrew Cuomo, New York's then governor, urged local politicians to work with Amazon in order to have its regional center to open in LIC, saying “You want to diversify your economy? You don’t want to just be Wall Street and finance?” “We need Amazon.'

However, AOC attacked Amazon: “... a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers & their neighbors defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world.”


AOC sounded and acted like a communist, who was out to stoke hatred toward a successful American business. Under the cloak of an elected official, she ignored the fact that 70% New Yorkers indicated in polls that they would support and welcome such an Amazon regional center in LIC.

AOC failed in her attempt to thwart the Israel Iron Dome bill. AOC felt bitter that so many in Washington are willing to go along with “unconditional aid to the Israeli government. ". AOC was seen crying after the measure easily passed the House of Representatives, 420–9.





No New Yorker has benefited from AOC's rehtoric of anti police, anti business, anti Israel, anti job creation and anti home owners. She has failed in representing New Yorkers' interests as she was elected to do.

New Yorkers will win if AOC is defeated.
